11/2/2022 0 Comments Xscreensaver nosplash![]() ![]() ![]() That was all you needed to know about installing the Xscreensaver app. You can verify this by running the following command: $ gnome-screensaver You do not need to add Gnome Screensaver to your system startup, as the application is designed to run automatically at all times. Remove Xscreensaver app from your startup applications. (The user will then be responsible for starting XScreenSaver on their own, if they want. That will cause gdm to run XScreenSaver while nobody is logged in, and kill it as soon as someone does log in. #Xscreensaver nosplash install#Install the Gnome Screensaver utility via the following command: $ sudo apt-get install gnome-screensaverģ. On the Background page, type the command 'xscreensaver-nosplash' into the Background Program field. Remove the Xscreensaver utility and the relevant packages that you added when installing Xscreensaver, via the following command in your Terminal: $ sudo apt-get remove xscreensaver xscreensaver-gl-extra xscreensaver-data-extraĢ. If for some reason you want to remove the Xscreensaver utility and return to the default Gnome Screensaver application, follow these steps:ġ. If you explore the utility a bit more, you'll learn that there are many other settings you can make to your screen saver's behavior through Xcreensaver. You can also set the idle time after which the screensaver will run through the 'Blank After' option. Via the Mode dropdown menu, you can even configure the utility to set only one screensaver and select that screensaver from the list you can see under “Mode”. It will also change screen savers randomly, every 10 minutes. By default, this screen saver utility will run random screen savers on your system when the screen is idle for 10 minutes. The app will open in the following view when you first open it:Ĭlick OK if you get a dialog like the one shown above to run Xscreensaver on your current screen. I guess we’ll find out.Checked that the dependencies were installed.Fired up synaptic and checked if webscreensaver is part of Debian - seems no.For 10, some of the packages are different (eg gir1.2-webkit2-4.0) and won’t work - it may be necessary to either hack the webscreensaver script or install parallel older packages.
